The Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) welcomes and supports the United Kingdom’s official decision to place the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of the occupying Iranian regime on the list of terrorist organizations. The UK Home Office has also banned all forms of support for the IRGC, and PAK expresses its full support for this decision.
For nearly five decades, the IRGC has been the principal force behind the occupation of Kurdistan and the killing of members of the Kurdish nation and other nations within Iran. At the same time, it has served as the regime’s main instrument for exporting terrorism, war, and instability throughout the world in general and the Middle East in particular.
During the recent 40-day war and continuing today, the IRGC has attacked neighboring countries, targeted commercial vessels, and acted as a force responsible for the killing of civilians and the spread of fear, intimidation, and terror.
The United States, followed by the European Union and Canada, had previously taken important and correct steps by placing the IRGC on their terrorist lists. PAK welcomes the United Kingdom’s decision and believes that this measure should have been taken much earlier.
Now that a significant number of the world’s most powerful countries have recognized the IRGC as a terrorist force, it is necessary for them to take coordinated and collective action to dismantle and defeat it.
